About Me
Who am I?
I am a Junior Full-stack Software Engineer keeping my skills sharp through freelance website construction. I graduated from DigitalCrafts Intensive Coding Bootcamp March 2021. I am seeking out an entry-level position where I can continue to grow as a developer in a team-based environment, ideally, with mentorship available.
I am located in: Atlanta, GA
Where am I coming from?
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2017 with a degree in public health. Most of my experience is in the medical field. I've worked as an EMT, medical assistant, and scribe. In 2020, I decided to make a transition from the medical field to software engineering.
Why am I here?
My first insight into the importance of thoughtfully designed technology came when I was working closely with EMR software (electronic medical records). The systems I worked with were nonintuitive, awkward to navigate, and made my job harder in many ways. This inspired me to explore software engineering. While I may no longer work directly with patients, I am still very passionate about providing tools that make people's everyday lives easier.
Why am I a good fit?
Premed coursework and patient exposure prepped me for a different career path but the skills I learned along the way are well suited to software development. Over the years, I have honed many soft skills that stem from working in service of others. These include a sharp attention to detail, strong work ethic, empathetic communication, and the ability to listen to the needs of others and display clear understanding.
What is my motivation?
I'm excited to continue my growth as a developer in hopes that I can make technology more functional and accessible to people that need it the most.

Education
Certification in Software Engineering
Nov 2020 - March 2021
DigitalCrafts Coding Bootcamp - Atlanta, Ga
Completed this 16-week intensive program where I learned full-stack web development. Working in teams to complete front-end and full-stack applications, I was selected as a team lead based on my reputation of going above and beyond requirements and consistently meeting deadlines. I was always passionate about having not only an efficient back-end but also an aesthetically pleasing UX/UI. Because of this, I became equally skilled in back-end problem-solving and creative front-end design.
Bachelors of Global Public Health
Aug 2013 - May 2017
University of Virginia - Charlottesville, Va
3.7 GPA | Graduated with distinction
During my time at University my work focused on public health and premed sciences. I was very active within the UVA healthcare system. I worked with the local Rescue Squad, helped run studies to pinpoint medical care inequities among vulnerable populations, and served as president of AED Premedical Honor Society.
I also was a part of a team working to develop a mobile application for an underserved population in a small town in West Virginia. Our team worked with local groups within the community to assess the needs of the area and discuss how we could develop a tool that would be useful. I was responsible for running focus groups and determining what services our demographic wanted and needed from our application.

Interests
I love what I do and am very passionate about software engineering. But that's only one part of my life! Here are some of the things I enjoy that don't involve a computer screen.
Photography
I have always loved taking pictures. One of my favorite things is to take candid photos of family and friends. It's so special to capture genuine moments of happiness for them to remember.
Yoga
This is my favorite way to exercise. I took a yoga class my senior year of college and have been hooked ever since!
Dog Watching
I don't have any pets at this time in my life but I cannot wait for the day I get a dog! In the meantime, I make a hobby of dog-watching while on the local walking trail.
Weight Lifting
If I'm not petting a dog or taking a picture of a dog, I might be doing some weight-training. There's something very empowering about lifing something really heavy!
